What You Get For Your Dues Dollars!

Membership in the National and North Dakota Societies of Professional Engineers provides numerous benefits! The following list is just a sampling of professional and personal opportunities that accompany membership.

Information - The Society works hard to keep you up-to-date on the information you want - and need - to know. Publications like the PE Magazine and the North Dakota Professional Engineer keep you up-to-date on issues that affect the entire profession. NSPE's site on the World Wide Web (www.nspe.org) provides valuable information on professional engineering and career issues, news on the profession, career tips, job information, products and services, links to other engineering-related Web sites, and much more!

Networking - In today's competitive environment, getting ahead often means knowing people with similar, parallel, or related interests. Membership gives you the opportunity to make valuable personal and professional contacts - which will help you reach your career goals while meeting engineers from all disciplines and management levels.

Chapter and State Meetings - Attend Chapter and State meetings for great social and networking opportunities. NDSPE's Annual Meeting is designed with something in mind for everyone! Activities include, continuing education courses; extensive networking and information exchange opportunities with NSPE leaders, NDSPE leaders, peers and potential clients; technical tours; round table discussions; as well as hosted social events, a banquet and lively entertainment.

Practice Divisions - Five practice divisions define and implement standards for a professional employment environment for Construction, Education, Government, Industry and Private Practice.

Public & Professional Image - How many times have you explained that as an engineer, you do not drive a train?  Do your employer and your clients understand your role as an engineer?  The Society recognizes this dilemma and works hard to promote and protect the engineering profession's public Image with programs like MATHCOUNTS, National Engineers Week and Legislative Day.  NDSPE also offers scholarships to North Dakota Engineering Students through its Educational Foundation.  These types of programs enhance your profession's public Image.

Lobbying - Your views on the critical issues facing your profession are presented to your elected officials in Congress and your state legislature. NDSPE leaders work hard at protecting engineering interests and enhancing the professional image of engineers.  We value your input.  Feel free to contact any of the state officers or local chapters with your concerns.

Licensure - The Society promotes Professional Engineer licensure to non-licensed engineers and works hard to enforce state engineering laws.

Ethics - The Society developed and adheres to a strong Engineers Code of Ethics.  We established the standards of professionalism that will set you apart from the crowd.

Education - We understand that to compete in today's changing environment, you must keep pace with changes in technology and management techniques, as well as the competition.  That’s why NDSPE at the chapter level, offers seminars on project management, marketing, professional liability, and many other subjects.  NDSPE at the state level offers professional, ethical, and leadership training through active involvement and at the annual meeting.  NSPE has also developed a series of courses meant to supplement your knowledge of current management techniques and the latest technology.

Professional Edge Conferences - NSPE holds Professional Edge Conferences which are centered around continuing education and peer sessions, all of which provide the participant with opportunities to earn professional development hours.  For information on the next Conference or other NSPE continuing education opportunities call: 703.684.4817.

PE and EIT Exams -You can prepare for either of these exams in your own home with a wide range of review materials covering a number of disciplines.  These materials feature online tutelage and a money-back guarantee.  For a catalog contact NSPE or the NDSPE Office at 701.258.2818.
