Professional Engineers in Private Practice
Division Chair: Lawrence Woodbury
chair.pepp@ndspe.orgPEPP addresses the professional, legal, and managerial concerns of engineers who are providing their technical expertise to the public.
PEPP addresses such issues as education, continuing professional development, practice management, legal decisions, unfair government competition, standard contract documents, professional liability, public relations, government laws and regulations, quality-based selection, and ethics.
Among the functions of PEPP is to provide specific information on state and national legislation, regulations and programs of special interest to consulting engineers. PEPP also offers business-related benefits to consulting engineers such as court-tested contract documents and assistance in obtaining professional liability coverage.
Professional Engineers in Higher Education
Division Chair: Donald Andersen
chair.pehe@ndspe.orgThe mission of PEHE is to advance the public welfare and safety through service to faculty, students, and practicing professionals. This is accomplished by promoting the teaching of engineering principles, knowledge, and skills pertinent to engineering practice. PEHE promotes the highest quality of practice and ethical standards, professional licensing, and the professional, social, and economic interests of students, faculty, and the NSPE membership.
Professional Engineers in Government
Division Chair:
PEG serves the public and the engineering profession by promoting professional development and providing an effective forum for discussion and united action on issues affecting all egineers employed by government.
PEG's goals are:
- To foster public understanding of the role of the government engineer in protecting the public health, safety, and welfare.
- To promote strong engineering involvement in legislative affairs.
- To encourage professional licensure of qualified engineers employed by government agencies.
- To seek employment of qualified persons with necessary engineering background and professional registration to technical and managerial positions at all levels of government where the use of engineering knowledge is beneficial.
- To seek the appointment of qualified persons with engineering backgrounds and technical knowledge to governmental boards, commissions, and authorities where such background is relevant.
Professional Engineers in Industry
Division Chair:
PEI's goals are:
- Establishing and maintaining high standards of competence and ethical conduct.
- Continuing the encouragement of registration of qualified engineers.
- Encouraging participation in community and civic affairs.
- Promoting public appreciation of the work and achievements of engineers in industry.
- Advancing the professional development and economic interests of professional engineers through sound employment practices.
- Affirming faith in and support of the free enterprise system.
Professional Engineers in Construction
Division Chair:
PEC brings together several viewpoints: the engineer's, the empoloyer's, and that of the construction industry in general. PEC addresses concerns that are important to engineers and the entire construction industry.
PEC accomplishes these objectives through active committee work and projects in the areas of design/build contracting, construction management, legislative and government affairs, inspection and building safety, computer applications, arbitration and mediation, asbestos abatement, energy, and professional development.
